Maine Air National Guard – Alter Main Gate and Vehicle Inspection Station
Autoplay: Off
Project Description
The Check House building design criteria included the need for compact personnel space and was designed as a small metal frame versus traditional masonry mostly due to the weight of concrete roof parapet wall used for elevated observations. It also featured thick, mirrored laminated glass and a concrete crash attenuator, all personnel protection devices. The layout of the vehicle station permitted military staff ready access to all dimensions of a large truck, allowing them to conduct necessary threat assessments. The building included a room for driver detainment.
